Assam Government has started a welfare Scheme for Male Students with the Name of Nijut Babu Asoni as similar to the Nijut Moiha Scheme, which provides benefits to female students across the State. Nijut Babu Asoni was Announced by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on 1 January 2026.

Chief Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma has announced the Nijut Babu Scheme on 1 January to encourage male students in the state. This Scheme is launched as a new scholarship-based financial assistance for Male Students Only. The Main Objective behind the Launch of this scheme is to counter the Gender imbalance across the state and encourage Male students towards Academics. 

A monthly Financial Assistance, similar to the Nijut Moina Scheme, will be given to Boys Students to pursue Graduation and higher Education. The Government wants to ensure that the financial burden should not be the reason to interrupt the education of male students in the State. 

Benefits of Nijut Babu Asoni Scheme

• The government will provide monthly Financial Assistance in the form of a scholarship to eligible male Students. 
• The financial assistance under the Scheme will help students to buy stationery, books, and other academic needs. 
• Students who are enrolled in undergraduate courses will get Rs. 1,000 per month. 
• Students who are enrolled in Post-Graduate courses will get Rs. 2,000 per month. 
• The Government will transfer the Financial Assistance through DBT to ensure transparency and Timely Payment. 

Eligibility Criteria 

• Applicants must be Permanent residents of Assam.
• Only male Students can apply for the Nijut Babu Scheme 
• Annual income of the Family must be less than Rs. 4 lakh per annum.
• Students must currently pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate course in an institution located within Assam.

Nijut Babu Asoni Apply

The Official Launch of the Scheme will happen on 1 February 2026, with all the guidelines, instructions, and modifications. The Government of Assam will ensure an Online Application for the Scheme with a Dedicated Nijut Babu Asoni Portal to receive applications from Students.
